Life's Like That

Easter Sunday

by Jerry Bullock

Just three days ago . . .
He is gone now.
How quickly He died.
Others still moan in their agony.
The years of His ministry passed too quickly.
He did so much good.
His words reached deep into the hearts of men.
And now He is gone.
How quickly the day passed.
They came into the garden and took Him.
They accused and tried Him.
They condemned Him.
They carried Him before Pilate
Who found no guilt in Him.
They crucified Him anyway.
Even on the cross, with nail-pierced hands,
He had compassion.
"Woman, behold thy son."
"Today thou shalt be with me in paradise."
"Father, forgive them."
He is gone now,
His body gently wrapped in grave's cloths,
His followers scattered and broken.
How? And why? They ask in their bereavement.
It is quiet now.
A gentle breeze pushes clouds
Past the dark silhouettes of crosses.
He is dead.

Luke 18:31-33: "Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, 'We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock Him, insult Him, spit on Him, flog Him and kill Him. On the third day HE WILL RISE AGAIN'."

Today is that day . . .

He is alive

May each of you have a blessed Easter!
