Yašll Come . . . Mamašs Gonna Sing! Our own singing star and recording artist, Debbie Daniels, produces the event. It is scheduled for the first Sunday of each month through the first of the year at least and maybe, we hope, well beyond that time. The premiere was well received and a huge success, even without the Steel Magnolias. I said this was a new group. ŗHow new?˛ you might ask. Well they were formed last Sunday afternoon after church. They are a group of women young at heart willing to do anything for Debbie. They are a fearless group... well, almost fearless; it was noted that some might need some help getting up on the stage. "But I canšt sing" some protested, but Debbie, the picture of confidence, said not to worry... "We will turn the CD up and no one will know." Mama, as I am sure you have guessed by now is Lucille, my sweet and beautiful wife of 53 years. She really does not sing so I was amazed when she came home from the meeting and announced that she was a chorus girl in Sundayšs program. When she was a youngster in Paris, Texas, she took piano lessons (but hardly ever practiced) and played the saxophone (sort of) in the PJC band because of her make up, if something is to be done she does it. This was especially true if someone told her she could not do it. She is the same way today. I have always kidded her that her dislike for music came from her background in the Church of Christ without the aid of a good pianist to show the way. Mama does not care for most music. It is one of our areas of matrimonial dissonance. I love most music and listen to music a lot of the time. I even have my own IPod with 435 songs to play for hours and even then not hear them all. She does, however, like one kind of music and because of that I know she is going to do just fine in her stage debut, She loves the music of worship, the gospel hymn or chorus that takes you to the throne of grace. This is her kind of music and mine as well. If you want to be entertained and feel really good after an evening of special live entertainment, yašll come... cause Mamašs gonna sing!
